History

Recap was founded in 1989 by David A. Smith, who still serves as CEO. Recap has successfully completed recapitalization, underwriting, asset-management, and sales transactions totaling $2.5 billion, on more than 736 properties in 44 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico.
In April 2007, it was acquired by Consolidated American Services (CAS).
